If your hair isn't cut in layers, I would suggest doing this! My hair is thick and heavy, and when I wear it long I can't keep curl either. Also, use a good quality hairspray (preferably something from the salon), and spray your hair WHILE it is on the curling iron ... and then again after you've finished the style.

1) Dont wash your hair every day, wash it every other day, that way your natural oils can build up, making it easier to style.

2) Try a thickening spray, it will make your strands thicker, and easier to stlye.

3) Use some kind of texture spray or other product when you curl your hair, but make sure your use a shine spray after, or your hair will look and feel dull and dry.

4) Use a low heat on your curling iron, I know it will take longer, but if your hair is flat, then it is also thin, and using a high heat can damage it.

5) Try layer next time you get your hair cut, your hair will probably fall differently when it's dry.

6) Let your hair air dry instead of using a blow dryer, that way, whatever natural curl or wave you have will come out on it's own. Scrunch your hair with your hand while it's drying so that it wil curl.
