There are different ways to do it, but I personally believe the best way to do it is to find the largest hot rollers that will still give you the curls but not make you look like your head is covered in pubic hair, and then do it that way. It is usually a good thing to add some sort of base and a hair moisturizer. Some people like to put in and leave conditionaer in their hair before this for a while to give it that extra softness. if you want them now go ahead us a small curling iron. Just make sure that you prep your hair and make it so that you don't damage your beautiful locks.
