So, I highlighted my hair light blonde a couple years ago, and it completely ruined my hair! I tried using Dove Advanced Therapy shampoo, which was supposed to keep my hair hydrated and help restore it's natural oils and crap. Didn't work. Now, my hair only gets straight when it's oily nd if I haven't washed it, and that's gross! What should I do?

Why don't you try a Joico K-Pak Intense Hydrator,it's a salon quality deep conditioner.I had a bad perm a few years ago and Joico helped me whip my hair back into shape,i totally recommend it.If you want your hair to be healthy again,you might have to stop using store-bought shampoos.Go to Folica.com and find a good moisturizing shampoo,i shop there all the time,they have the best selection.

try Biosilk. my hair did the same thing when i started coloring it and biosilk just restored it and help it look so healthy!!! dont use alot so that ur hair gets oily but just enough. Put it in your hair when its wet, and then style like normal. If u want ur hair straight try a straightner. The chi is great even though its a bit pricey but any straighter is ok!

I would suggest going to a professional salon and seeing what they can offer. They will have higher quality shampoo/conditioner that you need, and also other products that will not damage your hair. If your hair is badly damaged enough you might have to cut some of it off, but that isn't always the case.

To save a little cash, I do believe ShopKo somehow got away with selling professional shampoos and whatnot, so check there!!

Also, to keep it straight, get a nice straightener, like a CHI, and make sure your putting products in your hair before you straighten it... A good straighting serum, or anti frizz product.

Ask your hair stylest! Tell her what you JUST told us. But try using shampoo for "dry, damaged hair" like HerbalEssenses Breaks Over ...or HerbalEssenses " Hello Hydration!" To give it more hydration! But for BEST results, go to your salon and ask them what would work best, you'll be super suprised at the difference in your hair!

Try buying some straighting spray or gel. I have some from my Hair dresser, and it works liek a CHARM! Also, you need to protect your hair when you straighten it. Try spraying TRESemme "instant heat tamer" thorugh your hair to protect it from the heat. it Minimizes heat damage, and conditions and shines your hair! OR ask your hair dresser if they have Aquaage Straightening UltraGel. It protects your hair, and makes it real soft and shiny after blowdrying and or straightening!

Try using a very light shampoo like Pert or something that has a light conditoner and shampoo. It will help take the oil away, and then go for a intense condtioner. Biosilk products are great, and so are Joico K-Pak and Brocato Cloud 9 products. I don't use anything that isn't a salon-type product anymore. There really is a difference. All the ones I have listed are awesome for damaged hair. I used the K-Pak years ago after a perm messed up my hair, and it did wonders. Now I just use those shampoos/conditioners as a weekly upkeep type thing, and use my normal salon shampoos/conditioners the rest of the time.

You could also get a straigtening iron, but please be sure your hair is in good enough shape to use one before trying it! They can damage your hair, especially if yours is weak/brittle already. If you use a straightening iron, it's best to get some flat iron spray-type oil from a salon...it is designed to be sprayed on each section of hair before you straighten, and it will help protect your hair from damage more so than not using anything before straightening.
